Background
RK goaltending was founded by Ryan Kubic in the hopes of bringing a new and exciting aspect of coaching for hockey players at every skill level. This goalie school was founded on the principles of work ethic, dedication, and character. Here you will not only improve your physical and mental abilities on the ice, but learn how to approach the world of hockey as a whole.
Ryan Kubic
Head Instructor
Background: Former WHL goalie Ryan Kubic Played 4 years in the WHL with the Vancouver Giants, Saskatoon Blades and Regina Pats (2019 host of the Memorial Cup). He has won multiple awards in the league including: Rookie of the Year in (2017), Three Stars Award (2017), The Player’s Choice Award (2018), Unsung Hero Award (2018) and the Three Stars Award (2018). He holds the Vancouver Giants record for the most consecutive shutouts of 3 games and 1 period. He has attended the Vancouver Canucks development camp and played with Team Canada U17 which has given him a range of knowledge. He has over 15 years of experience playing and 9 years of goalie coaching experience at the AA, AAA, and Junior level. He has worked with some of the best goalie coaches in hockey along with the top off-ice trainers.
Currently: Ryan is the head goalie coach for the Junior B North Winnipeg Satellites. He is also studying at the Asper School of Business at the University of Manitoba in hopes of furthering his career.
Coaching Style: Ryan is a passionate coach who puts his players first. He works from the bottom up, making sure goalies at all levels have a strong foundation. This foundation includes: positioning, skating, tracking, rebound control, and hockey sense. He pays close attention to detail to make sure that each goalie is getting the most out of their session. Ryan teaches his students how to manage a game properly and become the best player they can be in any situation.
Wyatt Emes
Instructor
Background: Wyatt has played 6 seasons of junior hockey for various teams including: North Winnipeg Satellites, St. Vital Victorias, and Transcona Railers Express. He has contributed to over 50 wins at the junior level with 1 all-star appearance. Wyatt has been a role model on each of his teams showing leadership and character. He brings over 15 years of experience in the net to RK goaltending that he has contributed to his coaching style.
Currently: Wyatt is currently an assistant coach for the North Winnipeg Satellites and is completing his education at Red River College for Transportation and Supply Chain Management.
Coaching Style: Wyatt is a coach that is passionate about a students techincal game. He believes that a solid goaltending style is built around positioning, tracking, movement, mental toughness and compete. He wishes to give every goalie the chance to take their game to the next level.
